American Dry GinAlthough their raison d’être may be apple brandy, Louisville’s Copper & Kings has been dabbling in gin for a while, but when demand grew for their American Dry Gin, a previously limited and distillery-only release, they decided to answer the call. Launched nationally in August, the American Dry Gin forgoes neutral grain spirit and is instead crafted from, not surprisingly, an apple brandy base. Featuring a traditional lineup of gin botanicals, the spirit is juniper-forward with complementary herbal aromatics, much like a classic London dry gin. Citrus peels and lavender added in the second distillation contribute a brightness and floral notes, and the result is supremely smooth and drinkable—perfect for mixing into a batch of late-summer Gin & Tonics. $35, klwines.com.
