Drink of the Week: Terrapin Cinnamon Roll’d


terrapin-cinnamon-roll'd-1 copyWith all the makings of a boozy breakfast treat, Athens, Georgia, brewery Terrapin again rolls out their Wake-n-bake series coffee oatmeal stout, this time with the sweet, spicy essence of cinnamon rolls. The Cinnamon Roll’d W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout pours thick and black like strong coffee with an aroma to match (that being the added Jittery Joe’s coffee blend). Its initial sweetness leads into a pleasing, cinnamon spiciness with a dry finish, and just enough balanced bitterness from the Nugget hops. It’s all held together with a big, toasty body crafted from 2-Row pale malt, flaked oat, Crystal 85 malt, chocolate malt, DH Carafa III and roasted barley, which nicely accentuates the roasted coffee flavor. At 9.4 percent, it’s a bold choice for breakfast, but we think it would make for a perfect after-dinner pour with a slice of pie.
