West 32 SojuAfter many nights of eating and drinking in New York City’s Koreatown, college buddies Daniel Lee and Maxwell Fine tasted their share of soju before setting out to create West 32. Lee and Fine wanted to produce a domestic version of the traditional “Korean vodka.” Instead of the typical rice, wheat or barley base, West 32 Soju is distilled from corn sourced from New York and Connecticut, triple-filtered and sweetened just slightly with natural cane sugar. At 20 percent alcohol by volume, it has a smooth mouthfeel from the corn base, with a hint of sweetness from the cane. $12.99, binnys.com
